Holidaymakers are caught out by the unseasonal bad weather in Western Britain. Despite it being Peak holiday time in early August, With the Atmospheric jet stream in an unusual blocking pattern the first named storm of the season sweeps Western Britain, wreaking havoc and causing power lines to crash down in St Ives and Trebetherick in the county of Cornwall. 65mph winds are recorded and many events are cancelled due to safety concerns. The Huge Boardmasters music and surfing Festival at Watergate Bay struggle to erect the main stages this weekend with the high winds hitting the exposed clifftop venue. This kite flyer at Fistral beach was dragged across the sand and eventually forced to release his kite as the wind proved to much. Luckily the kite crashed to earth and was retrieved safely.
