STORYLINE:

The Leibniz Confucius Institute was invited to participate in this year's special celebration of the 50th anniversary of the FerienCard event in Hannover, Germany, from Friday to Sunday.

Since 1973, Hannover has organized the FerienCard event every summer vacation to provide varied cultural and sports activities for local teenagers aged 6 to 15.

By organizing activities such as Tai Chi fan performances and Chinese Hanfu shows, the Leibniz Confucius Institute, together with other local cultural institutions, provided a variety of cultural experience activities for young people.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): THOMAS ROTT, Head of Youth Holiday Service
"FerienCard in Hannover offers lots of activities in the summer holidays for the children. We have some 600 different activities in culture, in sports, and in movement. I think it was a really great show. We had the fashion show and we had the Hanfu show. We had this twice times, so in the morning and in the evening. There were lots of people watching the shows, and we had applause. So I think it was really great."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): LUISE MARALDA SENST, Student of sinology at University of Hamburg
"There's lots of fun today. My Chinese teacher Li is a good friend of mine. She told me that there are many activities today, including calligraphy, and the Hanfu show featuring costumes in the style of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It's very interesting. I think that China has such a rich history, and it is necessary to let Germans understand what China is like today."

The Leibniz Confucius Institute will also organize German college students to participate in summer schools in China this month to promote cultural exchanges between the two countries.
