This is the dramatic moment a frantic family battled to revive a toddler when he suddenly stopped breathing.

Mum Nannalin Chainphonsaen said her son had been screaming and crying at their home in Bangkok, Thailand, on August 8 evening when the child suddenly became silent.

She noticed that he had stopped breathing, and scooped him up in her arms, calling for the family to help her.

CCTV footage shows relatives scrambling to revive the boy, pumping his chest and blowing into his mouth to give him air.

When the youngster was still unconscious after several minutes, they called an ambulance then ran out to ask neighbours to help.

As the family persisted in conducting CPR, the boy finally gasped and woke up.

Nannalin said: 'His screaming was not normal. He kept screaming until he stopped breathing for about three minutes. His body stiffened, his face turned green, and his eyes rolled back like he was having a seizure.

'It was so scary that I panicked and did CPR on him. I don't want this to happen again. My heart is broken.'

The child is believed to have suffered a breath-holding spell, during which they stop breathing and sometimes lose consciousness.

Breath-holding spells are usually brought on by strong emotions like anger, furstration, or fear.

A relieved Nannalin wrote a week later that her son was now safe and is his cheerful usual self.

Doctors who checked him after the incident were unable to find any medical problems responsible for the breathing problem.
