A cannibal alligator thrashed a smaller gator against a fallen tree while munching on its tail.

Kayla Green, 32, was kayaking through Silver Springs State Park, Florida, USA, when she came across the 12-foot-long predator lying in the shallows.

Incredible footage caught the moment the larger gator clamped its powerful jaws around another six-foot-long reptile and effortlessly lifted it into the air.

The larger alligator then crashed its meal against a nearby log not once but twice as it kept its unfortunate prey jammed in its mouth.

Kayla, who runs Boondock Springs Eco-Tours, said: “I’m fascinated by alligators and always have been so it was very exciting to see and I could have watched all day.

“This was the third time I saw this specific alligator eat another alligator. It is a territorial thing. The smaller was probably a male in the other’s turf.

“The big gator was about 12-foot-long and the smaller one was about six-foot-long.”
