A lightning strike sparked a large fire at an oil refinery in Japan on Wednesday afternoon.

The ENEOS refinery in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, caught on fire when a lightning bolt hit one of the oil storage tanks past noon on August 23.

Footage shows black smoke plumes billowing as fireballs erupted from the compound.

Employees said the fire broke out at around 12:20 pm in the company's Mizushima complex. The Kurashiki Fire Department extinguished the flames at around 3:40 pm.

There were no injuries reported.
