Shopper horrified by fish with human-like teeth she bought for lunch
A shopper was horrified when she bought a fish for lunch - only to find it had human-like teeth.
Maria Christina Cusi took home a kilogram of bighead carp from the market to cook into stew for lunch but was shocked when she found a set of incisors on its mouth in Bacolod City, the Philippines, on July 24.
Footage shows at least four teeth attached to one of the chopped pieces of fish, which is locally called Imelda fish. She pressed and poked at the teeth, confirming that it was part of the meat.
Scared that the bizarre creature could harm their health, Christina said she threw the fish worth 200 PHP (2.79 GBP) away.
Maria said: 'I went to the market, one of the best markets here in Bacolod City. I bought fish for our house. Different kinds of fish. And I had this one fish that I took home to start cleaning.
'But when I cut the fish I was freaked out by its human-like teeth. The teeth were all attached to the mouth of the fish.'
The bighead carp is a species of freshwater fish native to East Asia. It is one of the most intensively exploited fishes in fish farming, with an annual worldwide production of over three million tonnes in 2013, principally from China.
