STORYLINE:

The Chinese Embassy in the United States hosted the "Chinese Dance Salon" on Friday, with young dancers from Beijing Dance Academy staging a special performance.

"Chinese dance and dancers have long been a bridge to promote cultural exchanges and enhance people-to-people friendship between China and other countries in the world, including the United States," Minister Jing Quan of the embassy said in brief remarks delivered before the performance.

"We expect the Beijing delegation and young dancers' visit to further enhance the sister city relationship between Beijing and Washington D.C., to promote exchanges and cooperation in areas of trade, education, culture and youth, to increase the mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples, so as to inject more positive energy to China-U.S. relationship," the diplomat said.

The guests watched the wonderful dance performance and responded with warm applause for the excellent dancers from China.
