A lost, abandoned kitten was rescued by a kind motorcycle rider and then taken home.

The ginger tabby, later named by good Samaritan Israel Nungay Salty, wandered on the roadside when it was spotted by the delivery rider as he was waiting for bookings in Manila, the Philippines, on July 2.

Footage shows the friendly Salty approaching Israel and playing with him until the cat lover decided to adopt it as it was so clingy.

Salty was cleaned and fed by Israel and now lives with him and his dog.

The Philippines is one of the world's top countries in terms of cat ownership. A survey by Japanese tech firm Rakuten in 2021 found that 43 per cent of Filipinos own a feline, making it the second highest in cat ownership in Asia after Thailand.
