This is the dramatic moment a pickup truck skidded on a wet road and crashed into a shop in Thailand.

CCTV footage shows the pickup spinning across the slippery tarmac before hitting a parked Nissan March at the Auntie Kaew 5 restaurant in Songkhla province on April 28.

The Nissan was sent tumbling from the force of the impact as debris was scattered in front of the restaurant. A parked motorcycle was also damaged in the collision.

There were no injuries reported.

The Nissan owner said he had a near-miss as the restaurant owner Poo had stopped him from entering his car.

He said: 'The owner told me not to rush because it was raining. I was waiting for the staff to bring an umbrella when the crash occurred. I was lucky I wasn't inside the car yet when it was struck.'

The pickup truck driver claimed he had meant to step on the clutch, but accidentally pressed the brakes, sending his vehicle hurtling toward the shop. He has agreed to cover the damages with his insurance.

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
