Chinese communities held activities recently in New Zealand to celebrate the upcoming 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Chinese traditional Mid-Autumn Festival.
A reception was held in the capital Wellington on Saturday. Minister Counsellor Wang Genhua of the Chinese Embassy in New Zealand extended Mid-Autumn Festival greetings and said that he looked forward to the bright future of China-New Zealand friendly relations.
Christchurch, the largest city in New Zealand's South Island, held the 2023 Mid-Autumn Festival gala on Saturday night. During the more than two-hour performance, the local overseas Chinese community presented more than 20 wonderful artistic performances.
New Zealand's Women, Children, Poverty Reduction and Education Minister Jane Tinetti, Statistics Minister Deborah Russell and about 300 people attended a gala held recently in Auckland, New Zealand's largest city to celebrate the incoming Mid-Autumn Festival.
In her speech, Tinetti thanked the Chinese community for their contributions to New Zealand's multicultural society.
This year's Mid-Autumn Festival falls on Sept. 29.
