STORYLINE:

The 2023 Euro-Asia Economic Forum wrapped up in China's Xi'an on Sunday.

Politicians, businesspeople and scholars from 51 countries and regions attended the three-day forum.

An economic and trade expo was also held on the sidelines of the forum.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): XUE LE, Staff member of Xi'an Duopulei Import and Export Trade Co., Ltd.
"Here are imported oats, and they come in various flavors. These are ready-to-eat. On this side is a brand of cookies that we imported. This product is quite popular in China. As a brand owner, my goal is to bring imported food to China so that citizens here can experience the different flavors of food from other countries."

SOUNDBITE: 2 (English): HUBER CHRISTIAN, Huber Christian, German exhibitor
"We just arrived here in China with this brand of beer, so we relatively unknown yet. Also we have a very high quality beer, as you can see we only sell in bottles, not in cans. We have our production in Bavaria. It's one of the oldest breweries in the world actually, with a history of 755 years. And while we're making first steps here, so it's getting good, but of course we have to step foot into the sea."

SOUNDBITE 3 (English): FAHAD ALI, Pakistani exhibitor
"We are selling handmade carpets from Pakistan, made of wool and silk, we've been coming in China for about 10 years, selling our product, introducing it to the Chinese market. We've been exporting to Europe, America, in different countries. So now we are doing it in China also because it's a very big market. We have many women at their home. They just make it in their home. It's like a hobby for them to make it at their homes. China I think it is a very good market. So far it has been very good."

SOUNDBITE 4 (Chinese): GAO LUSHA, Director of EAEF Economic and Trade Cooperation Expo
"This year, our trade fair has expanded significantly, with a substantial increase in the number of exhibitors. We currently have more than 600 exhibitors, including 23 international delegations, and 385 foreign brands. As a result, this year's fair is quite worth looking forward to in terms of scale and the number of exhibitors."

The Euro-Asia Economic Forum is an important economic cooperation mechanism under the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

It has been held every two years since its inception in 2005.
