This is the incredible moment a group of strangers joined together to help free a little girl by lifting up and moving a large SUV that she was trapped under.

The spontaneous rescue operation by pedestrians unfolded in Tongren, in southwest China's Guizhou Province, on September 28.

Eyewitness Mr Sun said that the driver turned onto the pavement and parked the vehicle but had likely not noticed the four-year-old girl who was apparently lying on the ground and accidentally trapped her under the car.

Upon noticing this, nearby shopkeepers and pedestrians rushed over to her rescue. Phone footage captured from the next-door building shows the crowd of kind-hearted strangers gathering around the heavy vehicle and lifting it up several inches from the ground.

Then, they move the silver SUV to the side and place it back it down after moving it just enough so that they can reach the girl.

In the video, filmed by an unnamed witness, the girl is then seen slowly getting up as she is surrounded by her rescuers, making sure she is okay.

Mr Sun said more than 20 people were involved in lifting the car and they saved the child in just 20 seconds After being rescued, the girl was immediately taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

Sun said he feels that there are still quite a lot of kind-hearted and enthusiastic people nowadays, and he was quite moved by the incident.

He called upon everyone to be vigilant when outside, especially in watching over their children. Drivers, in particular, should pay close attention and drive safely.
