Anglers rescued a drowning sea turtle that they spotted tangled in a ghost net.

The fishermen turned their boat to the spot where they noticed strange movements on the water's surface and found the marine animal stuck in the ocean pollution off the coast of Chonburi province, Thailand, on October 22.

Footage shows the boat approaching the turtle struggling to swim before one of the men removed the object wrapped around its body.

The anglers were successful in the unexpected rescue mission, and the sea turtle swam away after being freed.

One of the good Samaritans Songkran said: 'There was no wind, but the surface of the water was moving. We knew something was wrong and found the poor creature turtle in the net.'

Sea turtles are one of the most endangered animals on the planet. One of the biggest threats they face is entanglement in ghost nets.

Ghost nets are fishing nets that have been lost or abandoned at sea. They can drift for years, entangling and killing marine life, including sea turtles. Sea turtles can get caught in them while swimming or feeding. Once entangled, they can drown, starve, or be injured by the nets.
