A "love-struck" ostrich weaved through the traffic on a bustling road in a daring zoo escape in central China.

Video filmed in the city of Zhengzhou in Henan Province on November 6 shows an ostrich running among vehicles on a busy road, while a police riding a motorcycle to chase it.

Due to the ostrich's enormous size and rapid running speed, the traffic police did not dare to approach rashly, and a motorcycle followed behind at a distance. Inside a tunnel, the ostrich was tripped by the traffic police but quickly got up and continued to run.

Local reports revealed that this male ostrich had embarked on a desperate quest to reunite with his partner, who was reportedly injured and staying elsewhere.

The zoo employees finally took the ostrich back.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
