An Indonesian expert has said that stabilizing peaceful China-U.S. relations is essential to the Asia-Pacific countries.

"Stability of relations between the U.S. and China needs to be brought to the stability level of peace because there is also other kind of stability where you are stably always in rivalry with each other. And, that is very tense for everybody else surrounding these countries. Asia-Pacific will continue to be the heart of economic growth for the globe, so it is very essential that the two biggest players, who are not only important in economic activities, but also in political and security activities, can talk out their differences.
Confrontation will hurt everyone. As I said, the interdependence between the U.S. and China is very high. The U.S. is experiencing deficit with China. Yes, that is true. But, that means the U.S. is very dependent on Chinese products. If you cut that down, push that very hard for people to leave behind all Chinese products, the shake-up will be inside of the U.S. The one who will be at this disadvantage will be the U.S. citizens."
