STORYLINE:

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received on Saturday visiting Portuguese Foreign Minister Joao Cravinho and Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon to discuss the latest developments in the Gaza Strip.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said that the joint visit of the two ministers comes within the framework of keenness to coordinate and consult with Egypt to discuss ways of finding a solution to the current crisis in Gaza, putting an end to the ongoing attacks against Palestinian civilians, and working to entering humanitarian and relief aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip.

The foreign ministers of Portugal and Slovenia welcomed the humanitarian truce declared in the Gaza Strip, expressing their appreciation for the role played by Egypt in reaching this agreement.

Shoukry stressed the Egyptian position is based on the necessity of a complete and unconditional ceasefire, and facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, in addition to condemning the targeting of civilians, rejecting the policies of starvation and collective punishment of the Palestinian people, as well as rejecting Israel's attempts to displace the people of the Gaza Strip inside or outside Gaza in order to overcome the Palestinian cause at the expense of neighboring countries.

Shoukry also expressed his appreciation for the balanced positions of Portugal and Slovenia towards the crisis and their vote in favor of the Arab resolution on Gaza in the United Nations General Assembly.
