Adorable footage captures endangered African elephants at the Schoenbrunn Zoo in Vienna, Austria, joyfully munching on fallen autumn leaves.

The world's oldest zoo becomes a haven for the elephants during autumn, as they eagerly consume the brightly colored leaves, leaving zookeepers with little to do. According to animal keeper Jenny Bukowski, the elephants act like "leaf blowers on four legs," picking up and enjoying the fallen leaves with their trunks. The zookeepers strategically place apples among the leaves in the morning to entice the elephants, who also stash leaves under their tusks for later enjoyment. Other herbivores at the zoo, including hippos, Indian rhinos, water buffalos, and reindeer, join in the seasonal feast, favoring linden, maple, and birch leaves.

Schoenbrunn Zoo director Stephan Hering-Hagenbeck highlights the unique experience of observing nature's seasonal changes at the zoo.
