A video has captured the moment a man was rescued from extreme weather thanks to a load of youngsters in wetsuits – who saved him by using a big blue bin.

Rob Barnard, 48, was at home when his son said he was going out with some friends to play in the flood waters.

The young boy, Oscar, 14, and two of his friends, not named, took their boards with them and began floating up and down the streets.

However, they soon came across locals who needed help and decided to use a bin as their very own water taxi.

And the grateful customers even paid the boys for the assistance.

A video, shot in Looe, captured the strange moment the man was loaded into the bin – filmed by Jo Bond, a local business owner, on Friday (27 October) at 9:30 pm.

“They were originally just playing in the water and paddling down the streets,” Rob, a marine engineer, from Looe, Cornwall, told NeedToKnow.co.uk.

“They were playing in the bins when they realised people were stuck and couldn’t get out of bars, restaurants, etc because of the water.

“So they came up with the idea of using the bin and lifting people from place to place.

“I was home when I got a message from Ascar saying he had been paid £10 to ferry people up and down the street!

“They even managed to do takeaway deliveries and that is how they came across the man in the alleyway.

“He worked for the local Chinese [shop] and needed a ride home, they were messing around at the time and it just so happened that he needed to get out.

“My son made £24!

“Him and his friends were charging people a couple quid for lifts.”

In the clip, the man appears from an alleyway, as the three boys with a bin move closer.

He then clambers into it, before being floated away by his knights in shining armour.
