At the 5th World Media Summit held in China's Kunming, an Austrian media chief told Xinhua that China-Europe media cooperation can play an important role in addressing climate change.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): CHRISTIAN JUNGWIRTH, General Manager of OktoLab GmbH, Austria
"I know about these big efforts and these big strategies of the People's Republic of China on how to find new ways to deal with the climate change here.
I think China is obviously one of the most important countries on earth who can help humanity to overwhelm this problematic situation."
He also emphasized the challenge of combating misinformation, especially in Europe, and expressed optimism for collaborative efforts between media in China and Europe in the process of tackling climate change.
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): CHRISTIAN JUNGWIRTH, General Manager of OktoLab GmbH, Austria
"The society is getting more and more split into two parties. One says climate change is one of the most important topics for human beings, and we have to find way to overwhelm this situation. And the other one says this is a big lie. There are some groups in the West who always claim that this is not true.
Unfortunately, social media platforms give a lot of power for fake news and for spreading information like this.
I would say this is the biggest challenge as media we are facing in the West at the moment in the topic of climate change. But in the collaboration with Chinese media, for example, we have a huge possibility to tell new technologies and strategies and spread to the people that there are things are working here already."
