This is the touching moment a tearful boyfriend proposed to his partner at a restaurant.

Wendell Zulaybar set up the heartwarming surprise at the restaurant while having dinner with his girlfriend of two years, Ana Marie Malatumbaga, 25, in Manila, the Philippines, on November 20.

The couple was also celebrating their second anniversary and his 27th birthday so he thought of marking the special day with their engagement.

Footage shows a waiter heading towards the couple carrying a tray. He then placed a plate with a cheesecake on it and a note saying, 'Will you marry me?'

Wendell immediately bent to one knee, tearing up and laughing as he expressed his feelings and asked Ana to marry him.

Without hesitation, his girlfriend said 'yes.'

Ana said: 'On that day, I had no idea about the proposal. I decided to record the moment because I mistakenly thought the server would present my boyfriend with a complimentary birthday cake.'
