STORYLINE:

A Guinean academic is optimistic about China's economic prospects, saying the country's growth will continue to be driven by the development of the digital economy and green transformation.

SOUNDBITE 1 (French): LOUNCENY TRAORE, Professor at Gamal Abdel Nasser University of Conakry, Guinea
"So the Chinese economy is an economic model, efficient, innovative and equitable for developing countries. The investment in information and communications technologies contributes to economic growth. So with the development of the digital economy and green transformation, the Chinese economy can only do better."

The professor also said that for global investors, the Chinese market is still attractive and full of opportunities, and China remains an important engine for global growth.

SOUNDBITE 2 (French): LOUNCENY TRAORE, Professor at Gamal Abdel Nasser University of Conakry, Guinea
"China is an essential market for investors in 2023, particularly in sectors linked to consumption. First, China represents 40 (over 30) percent of global growth. So a country alone that represents that much of global growth means that China's slowdown will cast a shadow over all the world's economies. So when China is doing well with this percentage of more than a third, that means that the world will be better off. It is in our interests for China to develop well, because China is a locomotive (for global growth). It's the one that pulls the others. As I always say, China is constantly developing. China is developing, its economy is modernizing, and its digital economy is mobilizing."
