Car rolls downhill and crashes by the roadside after driver forgets handbrake
This is the dramatic moment a couple's car rolls downhill and crashes near a small pond after the driver forgot to pull the emergency brake before stepping outside.
CCTV cameras captured the incident that reportedly took place at a home residence in Jiangxi Province, south-eastern China, on the afternoon of December 22.
In the clip, a white sedan is seen pulling into the drive of a house built on top of a small hill and entering the yard.
Then, as the driver parked the car, a female passenger first exited and entered the house, leaving the door wide open.
Seconds later, the driver got out as well and also left the door open, then walked to the back of the yard.
But seemingly thinking he would be back soon, he forgot to apply the handbrake before he distanced himself from the vehicle.
Almost immediately, the sedan began moving and travelled downwards with both front doors wide open.
It rolled down the nearby slope and within seconds, it crashed into a tall metal fence separating the road from a small pond.
The driver and two other people could be seen running after the vehicle as the footage ends.
Fortunately, nobody got injured. It is currently unclear the amount of damage the vehicle suffered in the crash.
According to the woman who later shared the video on Douyin, China's version of TikTok, who was not identified, the driver was her father-in-law.
He became really upset with himself for not being careful enough and causing the accident, the woman added.
