Fear gripped the largest city of Ecuador, Guayaquil, on Tuesday, January 9, after armed gang members stormed the TC Televisión network headquarters in the city during a live-broadcast of El Noticiero news programme.

Police forces later arrested all the 13 masked gunmen. Shortly after the incident, Ecuador’s president Daniel Noboa issued a decree designating 20 drug trafficking gangs as terrorist groups and authored the military to “neutralize” the crime groups. This follows the state of emergency declared by Noboa just a day before regarding the prison escape of the country's most dangerous gang leader Adolfo Macías.

This clip shows a man on the ground in an apparent arrest by police outside the hotel near the vicinity of the TV station.
