In a recent operation, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) successfully exposed a sprawling underground tunnel strategically excavated by the Hamas organization beneath the city of Khan Yunis. The tunnel, uncovered by the Commando Unit, Yahalom Combat Engineering Unit, and Special Forces, was linked to a vast underground network beneath a civilian area in the city. This discovery comes after millions of shekels were invested in constructing the tunnel, complete with air ventilation systems, electrical supply, and plumbing.

Disturbingly, upon investigation, it has been confirmed that Israeli hostages had been held within the tunnel. The 98th Division is currently engaged in a dual-front effort, combating both underground and above ground in urban areas within the city. Engineering forces, the Yahalom Unit, Commando, and additional units are leading the charge to locate, investigate, and dismantle these tunnels, utilizing advanced technology and operational methods.

During subterranean combat, over 300 tunnel shafts were discovered, leading to significant tunnels, tactical shafts, and underground areas utilized as weapons storage facilities and combat zones. Over 100 tunnels have been dismantled, some resulting in the elimination of militants.
