In a swift and coordinated operation, a burglar, Ricky Homer, found himself in custody after breaking into Dobbies Garden Centre in Wyton. The alarm was raised by the security team when Homer was caught on CCTV cameras committing the crime just after 10 pm on October 23. The footage depicted him pilfering charity tins and loading trolleys with store merchandise.

Responding to the alert, the police, aided by CCTV operators, deployed Police Dog Vinnie and his handler to pursue the 36-year-old burglar. The chase ensued through the store, culminating in Homer's arrest in the soft play area.

At the Cambridge Crown Court on January 12, Homer, whose address is undisclosed, received a one-year prison sentence after admitting guilt for burglary and possession of a class B drug. Detective Constable Neil Patrick, the investigating officer, commended the collaborative efforts of the alarm company, CCTV operators, and the swift action of officers and Police Dog Vinnie, ensuring Homer's prompt arrest and subsequent imprisonment.
