Oklahoma trooper sent flying in shocking traffic stop collision
This is the shocking moment an Oklahoma trooper was sent flying when a high-speed vehicle crashed into the car he had pulled over.
Officer Jesse Gregory was talking to a motorist in a white vehicle during a traffic stop along Interstate 40 near the Yukon suburbs when a passing black SUV struck the stationary car on January 18.
Dashcam footage shows the trooper talking on the car's passenger side before he was tossed violently to the ground by the impact. Glass shards and debris scattered as the black SUV was seen cartwheeling across the highway.
In a statement, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said: 'We show this video as a graphic reminder of the consequences of distracted or impaired driving and the importance of the slow down, move over law. We are in the middle of a distracted driving emphasis right now in honor of Trooper Nicholas Dees, who lost his life in the line of duty after being struck by a distracted driver.
'Luckily, Trooper Gregory is expected to be ok. In fact, all three people involved in this incident were treated and released.
'Our investigators are looking into the cause of this crash and the investigation is ongoing.'
Speaking to local media, the shaken police officer said: 'I couldn't believe it happened to me, but I was thankful to walk away from it.'
He added: 'Hopefully, this is my scare of the career.'
