This is the heartstopping moment a tabby cat hanging from phone lines fell - but was saved by pupils using an outstretched blanket.

The quick-thinking students spotted the stranded moggy stuck on the communication cables outside their classrooms at a school in Phetchabun, Thailand, on February 6.

Realising that it was unable to haul itself back up, they crowded round below ready to catch the animal. Several youngsters then ran inside to grab a blanket, which they held below.

Footage shows the students stretching out the blanket and waiting for the cat to fall. The feline - minus one of its nine lives - landed on the cloth unharmed.

The caring classmates have now adopted the feline as a school pet. They gave it fresh milk and pork kebabs to eat while it recovered from the ordeal then let it wander around the school grounds.
