A brave pet dog prevented a major tragedy by biting off the charger from its owner's electric scooter after noticing sparks flying from the wire.

The heroic pup, a Belgian Malinois named 'Black Panther', was captured by surveillance cameras outside its home in Anyang in Henan, China, on Tuesday afternoon, February 6.

In the video, Black Panther was seen sitting on a small dog chair placed in the yard next to the open garage.

Its attention was quickly drawn to the nearby electric scooter charger that began letting sparks fly.

Incredibly, the dog walked quietly straight toward the burning cable and tried to pull it away with its mouth.

After a few attempts, it managed to bite off the wires, preventing a fire and saving its owner from a disaster.

Its owner later said he initially thought the dog had chewed on the charger while playing and caused the fire.

But after watching the surveillance footage, he was stunned to discover his dog had actually helped to extinguish the blaze and saved him. He apologised to the pooch by serving Black Panther a delicious treat.

They said: 'My pet dog saved my life. The fire could have burned the whole house down.'

The Belgian Malinois is a highly intelligent and versatile breed of dog, known for its agility, endurance, and trainability.

Originating from Belgium, it is often employed in various roles, including police and military work, search and rescue missions, and as a loyal and protective family companion.

This medium-to-large-sized breed is characterised by its short, fawn-coloured coat, distinctive black mask, and pointed ears.
