STORYLINE:

Egyptian ministers said Saturday that economic and trade cooperation with China greatly supports the Egyptian economy despite all the economic challenges facing the Arab country.

Egyptian finance minister and minister of public business sector received the interviews with Xinhua on the sidelines of the 10th Akhbar El Youm economic conference in the Egyptian capital Cairo.

"We are partners with China on many projects, and it (China) is Egypt's largest trading partner, in addition to making significant investments in the country. We are partners with China in the Belt and Road Initiative, the BRICS group, and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, fostering great cooperation between us."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Arabic): MAHMOUD ESMAT, Egyptian Minister of Public Business Sector
"The ministry has been working to highlight investment opportunities in Egypt to attract the private sector to partner with us. The ministry is currently cooperating with the private sector on 36 economic projects, and many of these involve numerous Chinese companies."

The Akhbar El Youm economic conference is an annual platform through which experts, representatives from the business community, and government officials exchange economic visions and ideas.
