A pot caught fire in a restaurant but a passing motorcycle taxi rider raced over and bravely put out the flames.

The grease fire in the kitchen behind the counter sparked panic among crew and customers before the hero motorist entered the establishment in Bangkok, Thailand on February 20.

CCTV footage shows the taxi rider making a beeline for the gas tank inside the noodle eatery and turning the knob closed under the table.

Restaurant manager Jay Ratthakorn said: ‘There was a leak in the tank that caused flames. We still don't know who the man was. We were very grateful to him. He did not want a reward and he just said that he was happy to help.'
