Dutch biologist Professor Freek Vonk recently had a remarkable encounter with a massive southern green anaconda (Eunectes murinus) in Brazil's Mato Grosso do Sul state. The encounter, filmed on July 7, 2023, during the production of his family TV show 'Freeks Wild World', showcased the immense size and demeanor of the anaconda.

Professor Vonk, who co-authored a paper introducing a new species of anaconda, described the snake as an "absolute titan," highlighting its impressive size and calm demeanor despite his close proximity. Weighing over 200 kilograms, the anaconda provided a rare opportunity for Vonk and his team to observe and document its behavior underwater for over an hour.
