STORYLINE:

Nearly 300 environmental activists broke into the Arkema factory, a chemical plant, in Pierre-Benite near the French city of Lyon on Saturday afternoon to denounce the use of PFAS compounds.

The operation was organized by the Extinction Rebellion and Youth for Climate groups as experts have warned that exposure to some types of PFAS is linked to serious health effects.

The police intervened less than ten minutes after the start of the action and eight people were arrested.
