Firefighters battled a large blaze that tore through a glue factory and two other buildings in Thailand.

The fire broke out at the MCM Chemical Co Ltd factory in the Biggerland 3 compound in Pathum Thani province at around 11:30 am on August 24.

Multiple explosions were heard as flammable chemicals inside were ignited. The inferno had also spread to two adjacent factories containing paper materials.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Tasana Udomporn of the Lam Luk Ka District Police Station said more than 20 firetrucks were dispatched to the scene.

He said: 'The fire was extinguished with no one hurt because the workers were on lunch break when it started.'

The factory owner said there were around 20 employees on shift at the time, but they were unsure what had caused the fire.

Authorities have cordoned off the area for investigations.
