The horses escaped from Cleaveland police stables and made their way onto the busy highway.

Cleveland police sergeant Wilfredo Diaz confirmed that the horses had strayed during routine care and exercise but were promptly recovered by mounted officers without any further incidents.

The police department's mounted unit, which consists of eight horses and eight police officers, is responsible for patrolling the city on horseback.

Surveillance videos posted online by the Ohio transportation department captured the horses weaving through cars in oncoming traffic, followed by a police car with flashing lights. The horses eventually turned towards a grassy area and disappeared out of sight.
