A tuk-tuk carrying a woman and three children spiralled out of control and plunged into a canal in India.

The electric three-wheeler was seen on CCTV driving towards the 8ft deep waterway in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on February 7.

Footage shows the driver losing grip and inadvertently manoeuvring towards the ditch, leading to the fall.

Motorists behind the vehicle, waiting for it to move, rushed towards the rickshaw to pull it, but it continued to drift away.

Residents gathered along the canal banks to assist and retrieve the driver and passengers from the water.

According to local media, the individuals inside the vehicle sustained minor injuries and received treatment in the hospital. All of them survived.

Concerned residents appealed to the local authorities and government to repair the road to prevent future incidents.
