A diner calmly ate his bowl of noodles as a swarm of bees surrounded him at a cafe.

The customer was tucking into lunch at the Phu Chan Lah Orange Farm when he encountered a colony of bees flying around him in Chiang Rai, Thailand, on March 13.

Footage captured by Suphansa Yangkarnkul, the owner of the farm and the cousin of the customer, shows the insects hovering in the air behind the unfazed diner.

Suphansa said: 'The chair he was sitting on is made from used tyres. He might have had disturbed them from sitting on it. None of them stung him as he stayed calm.'

Bees instinctively defend their hive when they swarm. If they do not perceive someone as a threat, they are unlikely to sting.
