The Empire State Building in New York City was transformed into a Star Wars fan’s dream on Wednesday as Disney Consumer Products and Lucasfilm unveiled a villains-inspired takeover. The iconic building featured a dynamic light show, character appearances, and immersive experiences for fans to enjoy.

Fans visiting the Empire State Building this month will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the Star Wars galaxy with photo opportunities featuring a range of new Star Wars consumer products. Actor Hayden Christensen participated in a morning lighting ceremony to kick off the festivities.

A highlight of the takeover was a dynamic light show on the building’s south side facade, featuring scenes of Star Wars villains synced to the iconic “The Imperial March (Darth Vader’s Theme).” The light show debuted at 8 p.m. and continued until 11 p.m. Fans could also tune in to iHeartRadio’s Z100 New York radio station or app to watch the show live.

Inside the Empire State Building, fans were treated to special Star Wars-themed artistry in the Fifth Avenue Lobby windows, featuring scenes of Darth Vader, Darth Maul, and stormtroopers surrounded by Star Wars merchandise. The window exhibit will be on display until April 29.

Visitors to the Empire State Building also had the chance to join Hasbro and Amazon for a Star Wars fan experience featuring photo opportunities with costumed characters like Darth Vader and stormtroopers. The experience included recreations of iconic scenes and locations inspired by the films, as well as the chance to check out the latest Star Wars collectibles.
