This is the incredible moment the solar eclipse was seen from a cruise ship off the coast of Mexico.

Footage shows passengers cheering as they gazed up at the darkened sky, where the moon's shadow appeared to block sunlight on April 8. A ring of light was seen shining around the circumference of the black disc.

Passenger Dodoy Mitra said: 'It was an incredible experience. I'm lucky that I got to see it because it's a rare sight.'

Mexico is within the eclipse's path of totality, where the moon will appear to completely obscure the sun. Those outside the path will see a partial solar eclipse, where only a part of the sun's face is blocked.

The next total solar eclipse will occur in August 2026, and can be viewed from the Arctic, eastern Greenland, Iceland, and northern Spain, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
