A buffalo stuck in a well overnight was rescued in Thailand.

Villager Sangwan Namlai, 46, had left her two buffaloes tied to a tree to graze, but returned to find that the animals had wandered off in Nakhon Nayok province.

She called local animal rescuers when her neighbour found one of the bovines trapped in an 18ft-deep well in a nearby village five days later on April 8.

Footage shows the volunteers using a crane to pull the buffalo by its horns out of the water-filled pit. The rescue took around 30 minutes.

Sangwan said: 'I thought my buffaloes were safe since I tied them to a tree. I was shocked because they were gone when I returned later that evening. We are still searching for my other buffalo.'
