An excavator was used to dig a wild buffalo out of a deep farm well in Vannappuram, Kerala.

Footage from April 20 shows the animal's body partially covered in the muddy water at the bottom of the pit.

The local forest department used an excavator to dig out a path so the buffalo could climb out of the well.

After a health checkup, the buffalo was released back into the wild.

A wild buffalo which fell into a well in a farm land was rescued after a 5 hour long rescue mission by a forest department . The rescue happened on 20th April at the farm land of Shaji who is a native of Vannapuram village in Kerala’s Idukki district . In morning hours when some people heard a wailing sound they looked into the well and found this buffalo under the water , they immediately informed the farm owner and district forest officials
The forest department team reached the spot at 10 am and started the rescue process. They digged the farm area around the well to pave a way for the buffalo , they threw digged mud into the water so that buffalo comfortably can walk over it . In The video buffalo can be seen attempting coming out of the well , after several attempt it finally came out using the paved ramp for it . After initial chekup the buffalo was set free
