This is the moment passers-by rush over to lift the taxi of a woman who had been crushed after it collided with a truck.

Eyewitnesses said that the taxi had collided with a truck and spun out of control before it struck the woman and pinned her underneath the vehicle in Langzhon in Sichuan, China, on April 16.

Seeing what happened, a group of 10 people immediately ran over and lifted the taxi up into the air so that she could be pulled out from underneath.

They then placed umbrellas over the wounded woman to keep the rain off her and waited until police and ambulance services arrived to take her to hospital.

One of those that helped was Chen Zesong, a security guard who was working at the time.

He said: 'I heard a loud bang and ran outside to see what was going on.

'I saw the taxi in the middle of the road. A young man shouted that there was a woman trapped underneath and people should help.

'I was one of several people that ran over to him. When there were a few of us it wasn't enough, then more people joined and we were able to lift the car.'

Chen Zesong recalled that the taxi hit the roadside guardrail, spun rapidly, and made a complete circle in the road before stopping.

He added: 'Only when I heard the call to lift the car, did I realised there was someone under the taxi.'

He said that it was the morning rush hour and the traffic volume was heavy. The taxi drive added the woman when she was standing in the middle of the road.

He said: 'The situation was extremely critical'.
