An elderly man was forced to pry open an elevator to rescue his dog trapped in the doors in southern China.

The CCTV footage was filmed in Chengdu City in Sichuan Province on April 27.

An elderly man enters an elevator with his pet dog, only to realize that the leash has slipped from his hand and fallen to the ground as the elevator doors close shut.

In a panic, he notices the leash caught in the gap of the elevator, suspending the dog mid-air. Desperate, the elderly man repeatedly presses the elevator buttons, hoping to reopen the doors.

After several unsuccessful attempts, he resorts to prying open the elevator doors to rescue the dog.

On April 28th, property management personnel at the complex revealed that the elevator had automatically halted operation upon detecting the leash caught in its mechanism. The owner in the CCTV footage has been identified and reprimanded.

The elderly man admitted negligence in securing the leash and explained that panic drove him to force open the elevator doors.

Fortunately, neither the elderly man nor the dog sustained any injuries, and the elevator has since been repaired and restored to normal operation.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
