A wildlife photographer captured stunning silhouettes of giraffes as the sun set on Kruger National Park.

The filmer told Newsflare: "It was during late afternoon that I decided to head out into a wilderness area of the Kruger National Park.

"My main goal was to go film a beautiful sunset, so I headed to an elevated area where I know from past experience the sunsets can be breathtaking at times if the weather plays along. It turned out to be a beautiful late afternoon and the sunset was glorious indeed.

"Just after the sun has set over the horizon, I got a whole lot more than what I anticipated. To my left in the distance, I saw some movement. To my total amazement, I saw the tall figures of giraffes slowly walking along in the distance.

"The last light of the day hanging over the horizon was painted in a stunning combination of blue, red and pink colours. The dark outlines of the tall figures of the giraffes moved along in front of the beautifully painted sky, making for one incredible moment of astonishing beauty and great silhouettes.

"I immediately got myself into position again and started filming this very iconic moment in the African wild. A sight like this is not something you will see every day out in the bush, and I just couldn’t believe my luck and realised I was just in the right place at the right time.

"The beautiful early evening nature sounds added to the atmosphere and after I finished filming, I just sat there alone until it was dark, totally mesmerised by the beauty that Mother Nature just revealed in front of me."
