Tourists stuck upside down hundreds of feet in air when fairground ride broke
This is the shocking moment visitors to a Chinese amusement park were left hanging upside down when a giant pendulum ride was suddenly stuck at the highest point.
The incident happened at Maxim's Red Wine Town amusement Park in Fuling District in central Chongqing, China, on Saturday, May 4.
Officials at the Fuling Cultural Tourism organisation confirmed that the ride was stuck leaving dozens of tourists upside down in the air until it could be fixed.
They said that the passengers were only upside down on the 'Big Pendulum' ride for a few minutes before being rescued.
They explained that everyone was taken back down to the ground safely, and the big pendulum ride is currently undergoing checks to find out what the fault was and it safe for future use.
They added that all the other rides are also undergoing safety checks.
