This is the shocking moment a teenage girl was flung from a faulty fairground ride at a fair in Thailand.

The young reveller, 16, had hopped on the 'Crazy Wave' ride with other tourists at a temple fair in Nakhon Si Thammarat province on October 15.

The girl took her seat and began filming with her phone as the mechanism swung them around in circles. But as the ride picked up speed, the youngster appeared to have slipped through the safety bars and was left flailing wildly in the air before falling to the floor.

The operator shut off the ride while onlookers rushed to help the injured teenager to her feet. She was rushed to a hospital and received 23 stitches for cuts on both of her legs.

The fairground operator agreed to cover the medical expenses amounting to 16,000 THB (439 USD), and paid an extra 3,000 THB (82 USD) for the girl's mum not to press charges.

Speaking to local media, the girl claimed she had 'sensed an issue with the safety bar', but did not expect it to 'malfunction' in the middle of the ride.

She said: 'I was so scared, I thought I would die. I'll never go on one of these rides again.'

The girl's mother said the Crazy Wave attraction had earlier been suspended for repairs before being re-opened.

Meanwhile, the owner of the ride blamed the accident on a malfunction in the control system when it was drenched by the rain.

Local media reported that both parties have reached a financial agreement and no legal charges will be filed. The owner will pay the family to cover medical expenses and other costs in order to avoid prosecution.
