05/09/2024 01:21 pm (GMT-0700) | HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES – A drug lab was discovered in Hollywood after neighbors reported a smell of strong chemicals. LAPD Hollywood Narcotics Division officers along with multiple joint task force officers were working to clear a small drug lab in the 1700 block of North Fuller Avenue. The lab was discovered when LAFD responded to reports of a strong chemical odor at approximately 1:21 p.m. Fire personnel alerted the LAPD who responded and confirmed a "DMT" lab at the location. One person was taken into custody by officers at scene. An LAPD lieutenant stated that the initial concern was that of a fire hazard, and possible chemical exposure to nearby residents at the building and surrounding area. "The strong smell of acetone and ammonia is what neighbors reported smelling to authorities," said an LAPD lieutenant off camera. Officers worked into the night to clear the apartment and remove the hazardous materials. All of the items were also cataloged and photographed. The vehicle in front of the location read "California Department of Justice Division of Law Enforcement" on the side. LA County Health Hazmat responded to collect the items to be disposed. No further information at this time.
