West Bank: IDF Launches Operation with Excavator to Counter Terror Threat in Jenin Region
West Bank - May 21, 2024
This morning, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) troops from the Judea and Samaria Division, along with the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), initiated an operation aimed at quelling terror activities in the Jenin area. The operation comes in response to intelligence provided by the Shin Bet, indicating the presence of armed militants associated with terrorist organizations Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), as well as the existence of numerous terror infrastructures in the region.
As part of the operation, security forces have engaged in exchanges of fire with armed militants in the area and are working to destroy terror infrastructures. Hits on militants have been confirmed as a result of these engagements.
Additionally, security forces recently conducted operations to demolish the residence of terrorist Ahmad Barkat, who carried out two shooting attacks, including the Harish attack on May 30, 2023, which resulted in the tragic death of Meir Tamari. The terrorist was eliminated in an airstrike in March.
