A 17 year old minor notified PD (Raymond Siko II) after seeing smoke from the structure.Due to the property being a former "Bar" several tanks of an unknown use were found in the basement. FF from Shamokin, Coal Township, Mount Carmel and several other municipalities spent several hours fighting the blaze. A Rehab unit was also called to the scene from Sunbury assisted at the scene. Firefighters used masonry saws and sledgehammers to vent "A" side of the brick structure, while water was sprayed via ladder pipe and Blitz Fire through the windows. Firefighters also had to deal with 16F degree weather, Ice buildup and wind chill. The nearby Knights of Columbus served coffee and opened its building to firefighters so they could warm up. Also, James Pizza delivered food and many residents brought hot beverages.
