Great White Shark Investigation Swim

This male came in for a closer look. At no point did I feel threatened because he came in controlled and deliberate.

You'll also notice a few other bits indicating this was a exploratory, non-threatening pass:

1. His fins are relaxed. An annoyed shark will have its fins pointed down (like a dog or cat will raise its hair or drop its ears).

2. He never deviates from his course. He has a path and follows it without changing speed or direction

3. Eye contact. Most, I stress "most", predators know when they're being watched/spotted and their behavior changes accordingly.

All that said, its quite extraordinary to have an adult Great White come in this close. Not going to lie, eight-year old Julian had an ear-to-ear grin :-)
