Dramatic footage has emerged from China of rescue crews battling torrential winds to save motorists caught up in a severe storm.

The video, captured in Turpan, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region last Sunday, shows strong winds buffeting rescue crews as they try to lift a driver to safety.

According to local reports, vehicles on the road were blown around and the visibility was less than one metre.

Ten firefighters and two personnel carriers were sent to the scene to rescue 51 people who were stranded.

Because of the 12-level strong wind, vehicles driving on road were blown down and the visibility was extremely low, which was less than one metre.

Ten firefighters and two armoured personnel carrier were sent on scene to save 51 people and settle them in safety place.
